"Tai D. Richardson was born and raised in the Newhallville neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut and was educated through the New Haven Public School System. He is a 1999 graduate of James Hillhouse High School. He attended Central Connecticut State University and Charter Oak State College where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Communications.

Tai is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and currently serves as the Vice President of the New Haven Alumni Chapter and the Director of Collegiate Affairs for New England States. Professionally, Tai is employed by the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch as a Juvenile Probation Supervisor in the Bridgeport Superior Court for Juvenile Matters. Additionally, he is a certified trainer and facilitator of Advancing Youth Development through the Academy of Educational Development, as well as a Facilitator of the Family Violence Education Program.

Tai has a passion for serving the community and has dedicated himself especially toward improving the academic and social development of inner city youth. Through his public speaking and community initiatives, Tai seeks to “inspire excellence, engage hearts, inform minds and encourage action” for those that he comes in contact with.

Tai is the father of a son, Durenzo, and two daughters, Tyler Mackenzie and Zora Grace Richardson. He is happily married to Mrs. Melissa Richardson. He is the owner of Richardson Training and Consulting, LLC, a company that focuses on leadership development, workshop facilitation and motivational speaking. Tai is a member of the Board of Directors for Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP). He also serves as a member of the Strengthening Partnerships between Community and Police committee for the town of Hamden.
