Bringing attention to and celebrating Autism Awareness Month.
April is Autism Awareness Month.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 44 children in the United States today.
In this podcast "Welcome to Holland" we will interview to mothers whose children have been diagnosed with Autism. They will talk about the challenges and triumphs of raising a child and adult with autism.
"Welcome to Holland" is in reference to a poem written by a parent of a child with a disability and she tries to comfort other parents struggling to accept their own special needs situations.
